Open-drain buffer with 32 mA sink — the wired-OR workhorse

The SN74LVC1G07DRY2 is a single non-inverting buffer from the 74LVC family, but the output stage is open-drain — it sinks current to ground but cannot source it. The 32 mA sink capability per channel is the headline figure — enough to drive an LED directly, pull a signal line low against a 1 kΩ pull-up to 3.3 V, or fan out to several CMOS inputs without exceeding the output current rating. At 125°C ambient the sink current derates, but the 32 mA spec at 25°C gives plenty of margin for most board-level interfaces.

The open-drain output lets the pull-up resistor set the high-level voltage independently of VCC — the buffer itself only pulls low, so the high-level voltage is whatever the pull-up rail provides.
