What this inverter does that a bigger package can't
It takes one input and gives you the inverted output — nothing more, nothing less. Output drive is 32 mA on both high and low sides, enough to light a small LED or drive a short trace to the next gate. Propagation delay is 3.7 ns at 5 V with a 50 pF load, so it keeps up with most SPI and GPIO toggles without adding timing margin problems.
Temperature range — where this part lives
The supply voltage range covers the full 1.65 V to 5.5 V across that temperature spread, so you do not lose headroom when it gets hot.
Lifecycle — no last-time-buy panic here
That means TI is still manufacturing it, no end-of-life notice has been issued, and you can plan this part into a multi-year production run without worrying about a sudden LTB. No known obsolescence risk on the horizon.
