1 x 3:8 decoder/demux in the 74LVC family
The SN74LVC138ADBR is a single 3-to-8 line decoder/demultiplexer from the 74LVC series, designed to take a 3-bit binary input and assert one of eight active-low outputs. It's the go-to part when you need to expand a few GPIO lines into a bank of chip selects or enable signals on a mixed-voltage board. Outputs source and sink 24 mA each, enough to drive a standard LED directly or fan out to several CMOS loads on a short trace.
The 16-SSOP footprint matches the industry-standard SOIC-16 narrow layout, so existing PCB patterns often accept it without a spin.
The 74LVC family is a mature, widely second-sourced logic series; if you need a pin-compatible alternative, the NXP 74LVC138A and ON Semiconductor MC74LVC138A share the same function and footprint, though always verify the supply voltage and output drive against your specific BOM line.
