Six open-drain buffers for mixed-voltage buses
The Texas Instruments SN74LVC07ADR is a six-channel, non-inverting buffer with open-drain outputs in a 14-SOIC package. The open-drain topology lets multiple outputs wire-OR together and enables level translation between voltage domains — common in I2C buses, interrupt lines, and LED drivers.
The supply range covers the four most common digital logic rails. A design running 3.3 V peripherals on a 1.8 V core can use the same buffer for both domains without a separate level shifter. The open-drain output pulls low to ground; the high level is set by an external pull-up resistor tied to the target rail. This makes the SN74LVC07ADR a natural fit for mixed-voltage backplanes and multi-voltage sensor interfaces.
24 mA sink, zero source current
The high-side current is zero because the output is open drain; the pull-up resistor supplies the load current when the output is off. Budget the pull-up value to keep the rise time within your bus timing budget, especially at higher capacitance loads.
The 14-SOIC package is a standard, widely stocked footprint.
