Dual 4-input NAND gate for mixed-voltage logic
The SN74LV20AD is a dual 4-input NAND gate from the 74LV family, providing two independent NAND functions in a single 14-SOIC package. Each gate accepts four inputs and delivers a standard push-pull output rated for 12 mA source and sink at 5 V. Supply range spans 2 V to 5.5 V, making it a direct fit for 3.3 V and 5 V logic domains without a separate level translator. Quiescent current maxes at 20 µA, suiting battery-backed or always-on rails. Maximum propagation delay is 7 ns with a 5 V supply driving a 50 pF load — this sets the timing budget for the slowest path through the gate.
7 ns propagation delay at 5 V — timing margin for the slow path
At Vcc=5 V and CL=50 pF, the SN74LV20AD guarantees a max propagation delay of 7 ns. The SN74LV00APWR (quad 2-input NAND, same 74LV family) shows 7.5 ns max at 5 V, 50 pF — very close to the 7 ns of the 20AD, so the speed difference between the two is negligible for most glue-logic applications.
Active production — no obsolescence risk on this BOM line
The 14-SOIC package is a widely stocked industry footprint, available in tube.
