The Texas Instruments SN74LV157APW is a 4 x 2:1 multiplexer from the 74LV logic family. It selects one of two 4-bit data sources based on a single select input, making it a straightforward choice for data routing in mixed-voltage systems.
Supply voltage and output drive
The 12mA output drive at both high and low levels is enough to fan out to a few CMOS loads or drive an LED indicator directly, but it is not a heavy bus driver — keep the total capacitive load under 50 pF if you want clean edges at 5V.
Package and field-swap reality
Housed in a 16-TSSOP (4.40 mm wide body), this is a surface-mount part. No socket option exists for this footprint, so swapping it on site means hot air or a fine-tipped iron — not a field-kit job unless you carry a hot-air station. MSL is not listed, but a 24-hour bake at 125°C before reflow is cheap insurance if the seal is broken.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The 74LV series is a mature logic family, but TI continues to support it.
