Hex inverter with open-drain outputs — 2V to 5.5V supply
The SN74LV06APWT is a hex inverter from the 74LV family, each channel providing an open-drain output that can sink up to 16 mA. The supply range spans 2V to 5.5V, making it a natural fit for mixed-voltage buses where a 3.3V MCU needs to drive a 5V peripheral or where level translation is required without a dedicated translator IC. With six independent inverters in a 14-TSSOP package, it replaces six discrete pull-up/open-drain circuits on a single footprint. The open-drain architecture means the output is high-impedance when the input is low; an external pull-up resistor to the target rail sets the high-level voltage.
7.5 ns propagation delay — timing margin at 5V
Maximum propagation delay is 7.5 ns at 5V with a 50 pF load. At 3.3V the delay is longer (typical 10–12 ns per the family data), so budget the slower edge when running below 5V. The 16 mA sink capability drives the load capacitance and sets the pull-up resistor value — a 1 kΩ pull-up to 5V yields about 5 mA sink current, well within the per-channel limit. Input logic thresholds are 0.5V low and 1.5V high — TTL-compatible levels that work with 3.3V and 2.5V logic without external level shifting on the input side.
