What this BCD-to-7-segment driver does on a 5V bus
The SN74LS47N is a BCD-to-7-segment decoder/driver from the 74LS low-power Schottky family, designed to drive common-anode LED displays directly from a TTL logic bus. It accepts a 4-bit BCD input and drives the seven segment outputs plus a ripple-blanking input/output for leading/trailing zero suppression — no external transistor array needed for the LED current.
Package and board-fit for through-hole assembly
The 16-PDIP footprint mates with standard 0.100" pitch sockets or wave-solder pads — no fine-pitch alignment, no reflow profile to qualify. Supplied in Tube packaging, which keeps the leads aligned and prevents the bent-pin rejects common with loose trays.
