4 x 2:1 multiplexer — 74LS logic, through-hole
The Texas Instruments SN74LS298N is a 4-bit, 2-input multiplexer from the 74LS Schottky TTL family. It selects one of two 4-bit data sources under control of a common select line, routing the chosen nibble to the output.
Output drive — 400 µA source, 8 mA sink
The output high current is rated at 400 µA and output low at 8 mA. That sink current is typical for the 74LS family and drives one standard LS load per output without external buffers. If you are interfacing to a higher-current load (LED, relay coil, or a bus with multiple fan-in), plan on a transistor or a line driver after the mux.
