8-input multiplexer in the 74LS family
The SN74LS151N is a single 8:1 multiplexer from the 74LS Schottky-clamped TTL family, selecting one of eight data lines based on a three-bit binary address. The 1 x 8:1 circuit means one data output (Y) and its complement (W) are available per package.
Output drive and package
Output high/low current is rated 400 µA source and 8 mA sink at rated VCC — this is standard 74LS fan-out, driving up to 10 LS loads per output. The 16-pin DIP (0.300" body width, 7.62 mm pitch) is the legacy through-hole footprint, still widely socketed in repair and retrofit work. The 16-PDIP package (supplier device package) mates with standard 0.100-inch pitch DIP sockets or solders directly into plated through-holes on a 2.54 mm grid PCB.
Active lifecycle and compliance
The 74LS series remains a standard logic family with broad installed base; the SN74LS151N is sourced through authorized and independent distribution channels, quoted to order against BOM quantities.
