Quiescent current and output drive
Maximum quiescent current is 2 µA across the temperature range, making this gate suitable for always-on or wake-up circuits where standby draw matters. Each output can source or sink 7.8 mA — enough to drive a downstream CMOS logic input or a low-current LED indicator, but not a relay coil or high-capacitance load without a buffer.
Lifecycle and sourcing
For dual-sourcing resilience, the 74HCS family includes other logic functions (inverters, NAND gates) in the same package and temperature grade, but no pin-compatible second-source OR gate is listed in the official cross-reference.
