Single 8-input NAND gate with Schmitt trigger — what it does on the board
The Texas Instruments SN74HCS30QDRQ1 is a single 8-input NAND gate from the 74HCS family, featuring Schmitt trigger inputs on all eight pins. It performs the NAND logic function across eight inputs, outputting a low only when all inputs are high. The Schmitt trigger action provides hysteresis on the input thresholds, cleaning up slow or noisy edges before the logic stage evaluates them — useful for switch debouncing, oscillator buffers, or conditioning signals from sensors in a noisy automotive environment. The part operates from a 2V to 6V supply, covering both 3.3V and 5V logic rails without an external level translator. Quiescent current maxes at 2 µA, so it adds negligible draw to a powered rail. Output drive is symmetric at 7.8 mA source and sink, enough to drive a single standard CMOS load or a short trace. Propagation delay is specified at 27 ns maximum into a 50 pF load at 6V supply — fast enough for most automotive body-control and sensor-interface logic running below 10 MHz. The 14-SOIC package (3.90 mm width) fits standard surface-mount assembly flows.
Automotive temperature range and AEC-Q100 qualification
Rated for -40°C to 125°C operating temperature, this gate is qualified to AEC-Q100, the automotive stress-test standard. That means it has passed the full suite of accelerated lifetime tests — high-temperature operating life, temperature cycling, moisture resistance, and ESD — making it suitable for under-hood, engine-bay, or chassis-mounted electronics where the ambient can exceed 85°C. The 74HCS series is TI's automotive-grade version of the 74HC family, with the same logic function but screened and characterised over the extended temperature range. If you are replacing a commercial 74HC30 in an existing design that now needs AEC-Q100 compliance, this is the direct drop-in — same pinout, same footprint, same 14-SOIC package.
Active lifecycle — no LTB risk for new designs
ROHS3 compliant (lead-free), it ships in Tape & Reel or Cut Tape options for volume or prototype quantities. For a BOM line that needs a qualified automotive logic gate, this part has no near-term obsolescence risk.
