Quad XNOR gate with Schmitt-trigger inputs for noise-prone automotive buses
The SN74HCS266QDRQ1 is a quad 2-input XNOR (exclusive NOR) gate from Texas Instruments' 74HCS series, qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 for automotive applications. Each of the four independent gates includes Schmitt-trigger inputs, which provide hysteresis for clean switching on slow or noisy signal edges—critical on long harness runs where CAN or LIN bus lines couple interference into adjacent traces.
Supply voltage, temperature grade, and timing budget
The 2V to 6V supply range covers the full automotive battery voltage envelope from cold-crank dips to load-dump recovery, without requiring an external regulator. Maximum quiescent current is 2 µA, so the gate's own draw is negligible in always-powered modules like body controllers or gateway ECUs. Output drive is specified as 7.8 mA sink/source, enough to drive a single downstream CMOS load or a low-speed optocoupler LED without a buffer. Propagation delay is 16 ns max at 6V with a 50 pF load. At 3.3V the delay will be higher—budget 20–25 ns for timing closure in a 1 MHz clock distribution or a debounced switch input path.
