Supply voltage and output drive — what to watch
The output sink and source capability is 7.8mA each, enough to drive a standard CMOS logic input or a low-power LED indicator without a buffer. If you need to switch heavier loads, plan on adding a transistor or a dedicated driver after the mux.
Package and mounting
The 16-SOIC narrow body (3.90 mm width) is a rework-friendly package. The body has low thermal mass — a standard hot-air station at 300°C with a small nozzle lifts it clean in about 15 seconds. No exposed pad, so no extra solder paste stencil step. MSL 1 per the 74HCS family, so no bake required unless the bag has been open past the floor-life window.
