Dual D-Type Flip-Flop with Set and Reset
The SN74HC74NSR is a dual positive-edge-triggered D-type flip-flop from the 74HC series, each element storing one bit with complementary outputs and independent set (preset) and reset inputs. Clock frequency reaches 60 MHz, and the supply range spans 2 V to 6 V, covering both 3.3 V and 5 V logic rails common in mixed-voltage digital designs. Operating temperature covers -40°C to 85°C, making it suitable for industrial environments where ambient temperature swings are routine.
Timing Margins and Drive Capability
Maximum propagation delay is 30 ns at 6 V supply with a 50 pF load — this sets the timing budget for cascaded stages; at lower supply voltages the delay increases, so the 60 MHz clock rate is achievable only near the upper end of the supply range. Output drive is rated 5.2 mA for both source and sink at the rated supply — sufficient for driving standard CMOS inputs or a single TTL load, but not intended for high-current or bus-oriented fan-out without buffering. Quiescent current sits at 4 µA typical, keeping the static power contribution negligible in battery-operated or power-sensitive assemblies. Input capacitance is 3 pF per input, which loads the driving gate lightly — multiple flip-flops on a shared clock line stay within the drive capability of a single 74HC output without excessive rise-time degradation.
Active Production, ROHS3 Compliant
The part carries ROHS3 compliance, meeting the latest EU restriction directive for lead, mercury, cadmium, and the four phthalates.
14-SOIC Surface-Mount Footprint
Housed in a 14-SOIC package (5.30 mm body width, 0.209-inch pitch) with the supplier device package designated 14-SO, it mounts on standard SOIC land patterns without requiring fine-pitch assembly capability. Available in Tape & Reel or Cut Tape options — the reel format suits automated pick-and-place for volume production, while Cut Tape serves prototype or low-quantity builds.
