8-bit shift register in the 74HC family
The SN74HC166PWR is an 8-bit parallel or serial-to-serial shift register from TI's 74HC logic family. It takes in data on eight parallel inputs or a single serial input and shifts it out on the serial output, controlled by a shift/load pin and a clock. The push-pull output stage drives standard CMOS or TTL loads directly. This part is a workhorse for expanding digital inputs on a microcontroller — think reading a bank of switches or a keypad over a few GPIO lines.
Supply range is 2V to 6V.
