Six open-drain inverters in a 14-TSSOP
The Texas Instruments SN74HC05PWT packs six independent inverter gates with open-drain outputs into a 14-TSSOP package. Each gate takes a single input and drives an open-drain output — the output transistor pulls low, but the high level is determined by an external pull-up resistor. This makes the part a wired-OR building block for bus arbitration, active-low interrupt consolidation, and level translation between 2V and 6V logic domains. Supply range covers 2V to 6V, and the quiescent current sits at 2 µA typical. Propagation delay is 20 ns at 6V into a 50 pF load. Operating temperature spans -40°C to 85°C.
Open-drain output — what it buys you
The open-drain output sinks 5.2 mA per channel. Multiple outputs can be tied together to a common pull-up resistor for wired-AND or wired-OR functions.
Where it fits in a board
Package is 14-TSSOP with 0.173" body width and 4.40 mm pitch — a compact footprint for dense layouts. Surface-mount only; the tape-and-reel or cut-tape options suit both prototyping and production reels. The -40°C to 85°C range covers most industrial and commercial enclosures but stops short of extended automotive under-hood requirements. For higher temperature or Schmitt-trigger inputs, the 74HCS04 or 74HCS14 peers offer -40°C to 125°C operation with integrated hysteresis.
Active and available
The SN74HC05PWT carries an Active lifecycle status with ROHS3 compliance. No last-time-buy or phase-out notices are in effect. For current pricing and availability, submit an RFQ — the part is sourced through independent distribution and quoted against your order. The 74HC family is a mature logic series; second-source equivalents exist from multiple manufacturers, but the exact TI order code is the one to specify for BOM consistency.
