Quad 2-input NOR gate in 14-DIP
The Texas Instruments SN74HC02N packs four independent 2-input NOR gates into a single 14-pin DIP. This is the through-hole version of the 74HC family — a direct drop-in for breadboard prototyping, legacy PCB designs, or low-volume builds where hand-soldering is the norm. Supply range is 2 V to 6 V, so it runs from a 3.3 V or 5 V rail without a separate regulator. The 2 µA max quiescent current means it adds negligible static draw to a battery-powered board.
Timing and drive at 5 V
Maximum propagation delay is 15 ns at 6 V with a 50 pF load — that is the worst-case figure across temperature and voltage. At 5 V the delay is typically a few nanoseconds faster, but the 15 ns ceiling is the number to budget for timing closure in a 10–20 MHz bus. Output drive is 5.2 mA source and sink. That is enough to switch a standard CMOS input or a low-power LED indicator, but not enough to drive a relay coil or a long unterminated trace without a buffer.
