The SN74HC00N packs four independent 2-input NAND gates in a single 14-DIP package, each gate consuming 2 µA quiescent current max — negligible in battery-powered or always-on logic chains.
Speed and propagation delay
Maximum propagation delay is 15 ns at 6 V with a 50 pF load — the speed ceiling for this gate in a 5 V system is around 33 MHz toggle rate, though the actual usable frequency drops as the load capacitance increases beyond 50 pF.
Package and board integration
Housed in a 14-pin PDIP (0.300" row spacing, 7.62 mm body width), this through-hole part mates with standard 0.100" pitch sockets or solders directly into plated through-holes — no fine-pitch fan-out needed, and the 2.54 mm pin spacing is breadboard-friendly for prototyping.
