Dual 4:1 multiplexer for 5V logic routing
The Texas Instruments SN74F253D is a dual 4:1 multiplexer from the 74F series, packing two independent 4-input to 1-output selector circuits into a single 16-SOIC package. It selects one of four data sources per mux based on a common select bus and individual output-enable controls. Typical applications include data routing, bus-oriented multiplexing, and signal selection in 5V logic systems such as telecom line cards, industrial control panels, and test equipment where board space is tight.
What the 2 x 4:1 circuit means for your BOM
Two 4:1 muxes in one package route eight data lines to two outputs using a shared three-bit address. Output drive is 3 mA high, 24 mA low.
