Quad 2-input NOR gate for 5V TTL logic
It operates from a 4.5V to 5.5V supply and delivers a maximum propagation delay of 5.5 ns at 5V with a 50 pF load. Each of the four independent NOR gates can sink up to 20 mA or source 1 mA per output. The input logic thresholds are 0.8V low and 2V high, making it directly compatible with standard 5V TTL and CMOS logic levels.
The 5.5 ns max propagation delay (at 5V, 50 pF) is the key performance spec. In a 5V system running at 50 MHz or faster, this delay keeps the gate's contribution to the critical path under one clock cycle, preserving setup and hold margins. For slower buses or legacy glue logic, the 74F family's speed is overkill but still works — just watch that the fast edge rates can cause ringing if the PCB trace is not impedance-controlled.
20 mA sink current — driving multiple loads
Each output can sink 20 mA and source 1 mA.
Not suitable for automotive under-hood, industrial ovens, or outdoor telecom cabinets without additional thermal management. For extended temperature, look at the 74FCT or 74ACT families.
