Quad 2-input NOR gate for 5V TTL logic
The Texas Instruments SN74F02D is a quad 2-input NOR gate from the 74F fast logic family. It operates from a 4.5V to 5.5V supply and delivers a maximum propagation delay of 5.5 ns at 5V with a 50 pF load. Each of the four independent NOR gates can sink up to 20 mA or source 1 mA per output. The input logic thresholds are 0.8V low and 2V high, making it directly compatible with standard 5V TTL and CMOS logic levels. The part is housed in a 14-SOIC surface-mount package and rated for commercial temperature range of 0°C to 70°C.
5.5 ns propagation delay — timing margin for high-speed buses
The 5.5 ns max propagation delay (at 5V, 50 pF) is the key performance spec. In a 5V system running at 50 MHz or faster, this delay keeps the gate's contribution to the critical path under one clock cycle, preserving setup and hold margins. For slower buses or legacy glue logic, the 74F family's speed is overkill but still works — just watch that the fast edge rates can cause ringing if the PCB trace is not impedance-controlled.
20 mA sink current — driving multiple loads
Each output can sink 20 mA and source 1 mA.
Commercial temperature range — indoor use only
Rated for 0°C to 70°C, this part is intended for indoor, office, or consumer environments. Not suitable for automotive under-hood, industrial ovens, or outdoor telecom cabinets without additional thermal management. For extended temperature, look at the 74FCT or 74ACT families.
Active lifecycle, ROHS3 compliant
It is ROHS3 compliant, meeting the latest EU directive for lead-free and restricted substances.
