Bus switch for hot-swap and signal isolation
The SN74CBT3306D is a dual single-pole single-throw bus switch from the 74CBT family, configured as two independent 1:1 circuits. It connects or isolates digital signal paths under control of the output-enable pins, with a propagation delay low enough to pass data without adding setup/hold margin issues. The 8-SOIC package keeps the board footprint compact — the 0.154-inch body width fits standard SOIC land patterns.
Package rework and board-fit
Housed in an 8-SOIC (0.154-inch, 3.90 mm width) surface-mount package, the SN74CBT3306D is straightforward to hand-solder or reflow. The 1.27 mm pin pitch gives good clearance for inspection and touch-up — a hot-air station at 300 °C for 10 seconds per side lifts the part cleanly without lifting pads, assuming the board has standard copper pour under the package. No special bake-out is required for this package moisture sensitivity level (MSL 1 typical for SOIC), so it can sit on the shelf and go straight to the reflow oven.
The part is ROHS3 compliant, meeting the current EU RoHS exemption rules. Operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, covering industrial environments.
