Why a configurable gate for sensor conditioning
The SN74AUP1G97DRLR is a single-gate configurable multiple-function IC from TI's 74AUP low-power family. It replaces multiple fixed-logic gates (AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR, inverter, buffer) with one part that you program via the input pin connections — no external jumpers or configuration bits. This is useful when a sensor's digital output needs a specific logic function (e.g., debounced threshold detection or signal inversion) and board space is tight. The supply voltage spans 0.8V to 3.6V, so it can run directly from a coin cell or a 1.8V/2.5V/3.3V rail without a separate regulator. The Schmitt-trigger input cleans up slow edges from a thermistor comparator or a capacitive proximity sensor, preventing multiple transitions.
Supply range and output drive for mixed-voltage boards
The 0.8V–3.6V supply range means this gate can interface a 1.2V MCU GPIO to a 3.3V peripheral — the output high/low levels track VCC, so level translation is inherent. The output can source or sink 4 mA, enough to drive a single LED or the input of a downstream logic gate, but not a relay coil or a high-capacitance bus. The SOT-563 package is 1.6 mm × 1.6 mm — smaller than a SOT-23 — so it fits on a cramped sensor PCB or a flex circuit.
Active production — no obsolescence concern
Texas Instruments continues to manufacture this part, and it is ROHS3 compliant. For volume pricing and lead time, submit an RFQ with your target quantity and preferred packaging (cut tape or reel).
