The SN74ALS137AN: It takes a 3-bit binary input and asserts one of eight active-low outputs, useful for memory-mapped I/O selection, address decoding, or routing a data signal to one of eight destinations. The single supply runs from 4.5V to 5.5V, matching standard 5V TTL logic rails. Outputs are rated for 400 µA source and 8 mA sink — enough to drive standard TTL inputs or low-power LED indicators, but not for heavy capacitive loads or high-fanout buses without buffering.

For a BOM planner, that means the part is still in the authorized channel and can be specified for new designs without an immediate obsolescence risk. The laser etch on the top of the package should match TI's factory font for the reported date code; any sanding, re-mark, or lot mismatch flags a counterfeit risk.
