Logic function and parametric fit
The SN74ALS08N is a quad 2-input AND gate from the 74ALS family, a bipolar logic series that balances speed and power for 5 V TTL systems. Output drive is specified at 400 µA sourcing and 8 mA sinking, which is sufficient to drive one or two standard TTL loads but not a heavy capacitive bus. The input thresholds are TTL-compatible: low at 0.8 V, high at 2 V, so the device interfaces directly with 5 V TTL and 5 V CMOS logic families without level translation.
Package and board integration
Housed in a 14-pin DIP (0.300" body width, 7.62 mm pitch), the SN74ALS08N is a through-hole part intended for socketed or wave-soldered assemblies. The 14-PDIP footprint is a standard JEDEC outline, so it drops into existing PCB layouts that accept 0.300" DIP packages without board revision.
RoHS3 compliant (2011/65/EU + 2015/863), the device is free of the six original restricted substances plus four phthalates.
