Quad 1-bit buffer with 3-state outputs — 5V logic workhorse
Each of the four buffers can source or sink 8mA, and the 3-state outputs let you share a bus line without contention.
The part is also ROHS3 compliant, which covers the European RoHS directive without exemptions.
If your board has a regulated 5V supply, the SN74AHCT126D will work cleanly. The 8mA per channel output drive is enough to drive a few standard TTL loads or a short PCB trace, but if you need to drive a long backplane or a high-capacitance bus, you may want to buffer the output further. The 3-state outputs are controlled per channel — each buffer has its own output enable, so you can selectively disable individual channels without affecting the others.
Package and temperature — board-fit and environment
The 14-SOIC (0.154" body width, 3.90mm width) is a common footprint that matches many standard SOIC-14 land patterns. The surface-mount package is suited for automated assembly.
