Quad OR gate in the 74AHC family — what the key ratings mean for your BOM
The SN74AHC32DR is a quad 2-input OR gate from the 74AHC high-speed CMOS logic family. It integrates four independent OR gates on one die, each with two inputs, in a 14-SOIC package — a common footprint that fits many existing PCB layouts without a board spin. Propagation delay is 7.5 ns max at 5 V with a 50 pF load — this sets the timing budget for the signal path. In a 20 MHz clocked system, the gate adds less than one-sixth of a clock period, leaving margin for trace delay and setup time at the receiver.
Industrial temperature range and deployment envelope
The wide range means the propagation delay and output drive stay within datasheet limits across the full temperature band. Quiescent current is 2 µA max, so the gate's own power draw is negligible in battery-backed or always-on sections of the board. The input logic thresholds are specified as 0.5 V to 1.65 V for low and 1.5 V to 3.85 V for high, which gives predictable switching across the supply range.
