Automotive-grade 8-bit bus transceiver in 20-TSSOP
The Texas Instruments SN74AHC245QPWRQ1 is an automotive-qualified, 8-bit non-inverting transceiver with 3-state outputs, designed for bidirectional bus communication in 2V to 5.5V systems. Output drive is rated at 8mA source and sink, symmetric, which is typical for the AHC family and adequate for driving one or two standard CMOS loads per line.
At 3.3V the part operates within spec, so no level translator is needed when the bus voltage matches the supply. The 8mA output current holds across the full voltage range, though at 2V the drive capability is reduced — still enough for short PCB traces and a single load. For a 5V bus, the AHC family's input thresholds are TTL-compatible, so it can interface with 3.3V logic if the 3.3V device's output high exceeds the 2V VIH(min) at 5V supply.
The Q-suffix ensures the automotive qualification documentation is maintained, which is critical for PPAP submissions.
Date-code trace and packaging
The laser-etched marking on the package body should read the full TI top-mark including the date-code lot trace code. When sourcing from independent distribution, verify the date-code range and that the marking font matches TI's standard for the 20-TSSOP body — counterfeit re-marking of a non-Q AHC245 into a Q-suffix part is a known risk given the identical footprint.
