Clock speed and propagation delay — timing budget fit
The SN74ACT534DW: Rated for a 100 MHz clock frequency with a max propagation delay of 11.5 ns at 5 V and 50 pF load. The 11.5 ns delay sets the data-to-output settling time — for a 100 MHz clock (10 ns period), the output must settle within one cycle, leaving 8.5 ns for the next stage setup.
Output drive and inverted tri-state bus
The outputs are inverted and tri-state — the inverted data path means a HIGH on the D input produces a LOW on Q, useful for active-low control buses. Tri-state lets multiple flip-flops share a common data bus; the output goes high-impedance when the output-enable pin is asserted.
Housed in a 20-SOIC wide-body package (7.50 mm width), surface-mount. The 1.27 mm pitch is layout-friendly on a 2-layer board.
