Active 5V bus buffer with 24 mA drive
The SN74ACT244DWR: Each of the two elements buffers four bits, giving eight total channels in one 20-SOIC wide-body package (7.50 mm width). Each output can sink or source 24 mA, enough to drive a terminated backplane trace or a bank of LEDs without an external line driver. The 3-state control lets multiple buffers share a common data bus — the outputs go high-impedance when the enable pins are deasserted.
Industrial temperature and surface-mount footprint
The 20-SOIC package (supplier device package 20-SOIC) uses a 1.27 mm pitch, standard for medium-density logic on 2-layer or 4-layer boards. The wide-body SOIC (0.295-inch body width) provides better thermal dissipation than the narrow version and matches the footprint of many octal bus-interface devices. Decoupling with a 0.1 µF ceramic close to each supply pin is recommended for the 5 V rail.
