Quad 2-input XOR in 14-SOIC — 8.5 ns at 5 V
The SN74AC86DR: Four independent XOR gates each accept two inputs and deliver the exclusive-OR function — the output goes high when the inputs differ. Propagation delay is 8.5 ns max at 5 V with a 50 pF load — fast enough for clock-domain crossing and data-path parity checks running at tens of megahertz. Output drive is 24 mA source and sink at the rated supply voltage, sufficient to drive a 50 pF trace or the input of a downstream CMOS or TTL gate without a buffer.
Supply voltage and temperature envelope
Input logic thresholds are specified across the supply range: low level 0.9 V to 1.65 V, high level 2.1 V to 3.85 V. At 5 V supply, the switching threshold sits near 2.5 V, giving 2.5 V of noise margin on a 5 V rail. Quiescent current is 2 µA max — negligible in battery-powered designs where the XOR gate sits idle between operations.

The supplier device package is 14-SOIC — standard SOIC-14 footprint, no exposed pad. Mounting is surface-mount only; the package suits two-layer boards with 0.5 mm trace/space rules.
