14-TSSOP quad NAND gate — 2V to 6V supply, 24 mA drive
The SN74AC00PW is a quad 2-input NAND gate from TI's 74AC series, packaged in a 14-TSSOP (0.173", 4.40 mm width) surface-mount package. Each of the four independent gates accepts two inputs and delivers a NAND output, with the whole IC running off a 2V to 6V supply rail. The 14-TSSOP footprint is a common 4.4 mm wide body — it fits the standard SOIC-14 land pattern with a narrower pitch, so a board already laid out for a 14-pin TSSOP takes this part without a spin. The 0.65 mm pin pitch means hand-soldering is possible with a fine tip, but a reflow profile is cleaner for production runs. Output drive is rated 24 mA source and 24 mA sink per channel — enough to directly drive a low-power LED or the input of another logic family without a buffer. Quiescent current maxes at 2 µA, so the gate draws almost nothing when the outputs are static.
8 ns propagation delay — timing margin at 5 V
That sets the timing floor for a chain of gates — three in series add 24 ns of delay, which matters for a 50 MHz clock path where the period is 20 ns. The 74AC family's speed sits between the older 74HC (slower) and the 74AHC (faster), making it a middle-ground choice for 3.3V and 5V mixed-logic boards. Input logic thresholds are specified across the supply range: low level is 0.9V to 1.65V, high level is 2.1V to 3.85V. At 3.3V supply, a 1.8V logic signal falls in the undefined region — use a level translator or pick a 74AHC part with lower thresholds. At 5V, standard TTL and CMOS levels are compatible. The 2 µA max quiescent current holds across this range, so battery-powered sensor nodes see negligible standby drain.

The 74AC series is a mature logic family with broad second-sourcing across TI, Nexperia, and ON Semiconductor. If the BOM needs a hedge, a functionally equivalent part from another vendor in the same 14-TSSOP footprint is a straight swap — confirm the input threshold compatibility at your supply voltage.
