Active 8-bit transceiver for 5 V buses
The Texas Instruments SN74ABT623DW is a single-element, 8-bit non-inverting transceiver from the 74ABT family, packing 32 mA source and 64 mA sink per output to drive heavily loaded backplane or memory-interface buses.
64 mA sink — enough for a 50 Ω line
The 32 mA / 64 mA output drive is the headline spec here. With 64 mA of low-level current, the SN74ABT623DW can hold a 50 Ω transmission line terminated to 2.5 V in its low state without external buffers — a common need in 5 V TTL backplanes and memory address buses. The 3-state outputs let multiple transceivers share the same bus without contention, controlled by the output-enable logic.
