The SN74ABT16245ADLR: It handles bidirectional data flow between two 5 V buses, with 3-state outputs that let multiple drivers share the same line without contention. The 32 mA output high and 64 mA output low current capability gives it the drive strength to fan out to multiple loads or drive a heavily loaded backplane without external buffers.
48-SSOP — what the package means for assembly and rework
The 0.635 mm pitch is tight enough that hand-soldering is possible with a fine tip and steady hands, but a hot-air station or reflow profile matched to the 48-SSOP footprint is cleaner. No lab, no bench, let us go — but if you are swapping this on site, pre-tin the pads and use a flux pen; the leads are visible enough to inspect with a loupe. The surface-mount only means no socket option for prototyping, though a 48-SSOP adapter board works for breadboarding.
It fits factory-floor controls, outdoor telecom cabinets, and motor-drive interface panels where the enclosure stays above freezing but sees heat from adjacent power stages. Not rated for automotive under-hood (no AEC-Q100 mark), but fine for cabin or infotainment if the system stays within 85°C.
The 74ABT series is a mature logic family, but TI continues to support it for industrial and telecom designs that standardize on 5 V backplanes.
