400 Mbps data rate — what it buys you
The 400 Mbps per-channel data rate supports high-speed serial links such as parallel-to-serial conversions, high-resolution video transport, and fast control buses. At this rate, the differential swing (typically 350 mV into a 100 Ω termination) keeps EMI low and common-mode noise rejection high, which is the whole point of LVDS. For a 2:1 or 4:1 serializer feeding a single twisted pair, this driver handles the line side cleanly.
Package and thermal: 8-HVSSOP with exposed pad
The exposed pad is electrically connected to GND, so the via stitching also serves as a low-inductance ground return. The footprint is shared with the standard 8-MSOP, but the pad changes the soldering stencil aperture — verify the land pattern against the package drawing before the board spins.
Supply rails and decoupling
Decouple each supply pin with a 0.1 µF ceramic placed as close to the pin as possible; a 1 µF bulk cap per driver pair handles transient current during switching. The driver's output current is sink/source limited by the differential termination — no external bias resistors needed.
