Serializer for high-speed display links
The Texas Instruments SN65LVDS93DGG is a 28-channel LVDS serializer that converts 28 bits of LVTTL data into four LVDS data streams at a serial data rate of 1.904 Gbps. It is designed for chip-to-chip or board-to-board video and display interfaces where parallel buses need to be reduced to a few differential pairs, saving board area and reducing EMI.
1.904 Gbps — what it buys on the link
The 1.904 Gbps aggregate serial data rate across the four LVDS outputs means each differential pair runs at roughly 476 Mbps. That is enough bandwidth to carry 24-bit color at WXGA (1366x768) or 18-bit color at 1080p60 over a single connector, with the fourth channel available for control or sync signals. The 28 LVTTL inputs accept parallel data from a GPU, FPGA, or SoC video port without level translation. At this rate, the LVDS outputs maintain signal integrity over twisted-pair or ribbon cable up to several meters, depending on cable quality and termination.
