Automotive display bridge — what the AEC-Q100 grade means for the BOM
The Texas Instruments SN65LVDS86AQDGGRG4 is an LVDS display interface IC from the Automotive, AEC-Q100 65LVDS series. It is designed to serialize or deserialize parallel RGB data for transmission over a low-voltage differential pair, targeting displays, monitors, and TV applications in vehicle infotainment and cluster systems. The AEC-Q100 qualification is the key differentiator here — this part is stress-tested for automotive temperature ranges, extended reliability, and production-level quality management. That means it belongs on a BOM for under-hood or cabin displays where a consumer-grade LVDS part would risk field failures from thermal cycling or vibration.
Supply rail and package — fitting it into the layout
If the rail droops below 3V, the LVDS output common-mode voltage shifts and the receiver at the other end of the cable may lose the signal. Plan for a local 3.3V LDO or a clean switcher with <50 mV ripple. It comes in a 48-TFSOP package (0.240", 6.10mm width), also called 48-TSSOP. The narrow body (6.10 mm) saves board space near the display connector or the TCON.
Lifecycle and stock planning — active, no LTB pressure
Store the reels in a dry cabinet below 30°C / 60% RH if the MSL level is 3 or higher; the moisture-barrier bag seal date matters more than the reel label for reflow reliability.
