Quad LVDS driver for 400 Mbps point-to-point links
The Texas Instruments SN65LVDS3487D is a quad-channel LVDS driver in a 16-SOIC package, delivering 400 Mbps per channel over differential pairs.
Each of the four drivers sinks or sources a nominal 3.5 mA differential output current into a 100 Ω termination, producing a typical 350 mV swing across the pair. At 400 Mbps the output transition times are fast enough to drive a few metres of twisted-pair or ribbon cable, but the edge rate is controlled enough that a well-laid-out PCB trace under 30 cm won't need a separate pre-emphasis stage.
Package and footprint — 16-SOIC with standard pitch
The SN65LVDS3487D comes in a 16-SOIC body (3.90 mm width, 0.154" pitch), a common footprint that places without tombstoning risk on standard FR-4. The 3.3 V supply decoupling should be a 0.1 µF ceramic within 2 mm of each VCC pin, plus a 1 µF bulk cap per driver pair.
