The 630 Mbps data rate is the maximum guaranteed toggle rate for the LVDS output. At this speed the driver maintains the differential swing (typically 350 mV into a 100 Ω termination) with controlled edge rates that minimise EMI. For a 100BASE-TX or similar 125 Mbps link the margin is generous; for a 600+ Mbps serialiser-deserialiser interface the driver keeps the eye open without external pre-emphasis. The single driver channel (1/0 drivers/receivers) is a point-to-point topology — no multidrop bus capability, so plan one driver per link.
Supply range and rail compatibility
At 3.3 V the driver accepts standard 3.3 V CMOS/TTL inputs; at 2.5 V the input thresholds scale accordingly. No separate VCC for the output stage — the LVDS swing is derived from the single supply. If the design uses a 1.8 V core logic, level-shifting on the input side is needed because the driver's VIH minimum is 2.0 V over the full supply range.
ROHS3 compliant. For dual-sourcing or second-source qualification, the 65LVDS series includes pin-compatible driver variants; verify the specific alternate against the same 8-SOIC footprint and 630 Mbps rating.
