Signal repeater for high-speed serial links
The SN65LVDS100DGKR: It accepts CML, LVDS, or LVPECL inputs and outputs a standard LVDS level, making it a glue-logic part for boards that mix serial interface families. The 2 Gbps data rate and 470 ps propagation delay keep the eye open across short backplane traces or cable runs up to a few meters.
What the 2 Gbps and 470 ps mean for your link budget
At 2 Gbps the unit interval is 500 ps, so the 470 ps delay consumes nearly the entire bit period if you cascade multiple repeaters. For a single stage the margin is tight but workable — plan for one re-driver hop per link, not a daisy chain. The 0.6 pF input capacitance loads the upstream driver lightly, preserving signal integrity at the source.
