3.3V supply — answers the 5V logic question
If your system has a 5V logic bus on the other side, the SN65HVD35DR's logic inputs are not 5V-tolerant at the supply — you need a level translator or a resistive divider on the driver input and receiver output if the UART or controller is 5V. The receiver outputs swing rail-to-rail on 3.3V, so a 5V MCU will see a logic-high at about 3.3V, which may or may not cross its VIH threshold depending on the family. Check the controller's input thresholds before committing.
ROHS3 compliant as well, so it passes European and global RoHS requirements without an exemption.
Standard 14-SOIC — rework-friendly
The 14-SOIC package (3.90mm body width, 0.154" pitch) is a common footprint that solders cleanly with a standard iron or hot-air station. No exposed pad, no thermal via requirement — just a straightforward SOIC layout. That makes it a field-swappable part if you carry a few in your kit and have a soldering iron.
