CANbus transceiver for the 5V automotive bus
The SN65HVD251QDRQ1: The receiver hysteresis of 100 mV gives it clean noise rejection on a loaded CAN differential pair — useful when the bus runs through a harness shared with ignition noise or inverter switching edges.
5V supply — not a 3.3V part
The supply range is 4.5V to 5.5V, so this transceiver runs on a 5V CANbus rail only. It will not operate from a 3.3V supply — the bus common-mode and differential output levels are specified for the 5V domain. If your microcontroller is 3.3V, you still need a 5V rail for the transceiver and level translation on the TXD/RXD pins. The base product number 65HVD251 family includes no 3.3V variant; that is the SN65HVD230 line.
