The 8-CFlatPack (CFP) is a ceramic, hermetic package with leads formed for surface mounting. It is intended for high-reliability programs where outgassing, moisture ingress, and thermal cycling are deal-breakers.
210°C operating — not a typo, but know the limits
The -55°C to 210°C operating temperature range is the headline spec. 210°C junction is far beyond the 150°C or 175°C max of typical automotive CAN transceivers. This rating means the die is processed on a high-temperature fabrication flow (likely silicon-on-insulator or a specialty bipolar process) and assembled in a ceramic package that can handle the thermal expansion. Use it only where the environment demands it. The 140 mV receiver hysteresis is generous, giving good noise immunity on long or noisy bus lines at high temperature.
