1 Mbps CAN transceiver for 3.3 V industrial buses

Supply voltage: 3.3 V rail, not 5 V tolerant
This is the key BOM decision: if your CAN controller runs at 3.3 V, this transceiver mates without a voltage translator. The part is not 5 V tolerant on the supply or bus pins — feeding 5 V into VCC exceeds the absolute maximum and will damage the device. For designs with mixed 3.3 V controllers and 5 V legacy transceivers, this part simplifies the rail tree but requires a dedicated 3.3 V supply.
This removes the sourcing risk for a new design-in: you are not committing the BOM to a part that will vanish mid-production. The ROHS3 compliance covers global regulatory requirements for lead-free assembly.
Package and footprint: standard 8-SOIC narrow body
Housed in an 8-SOIC narrow-body package (3.90 mm width, 0.154" body), the SN65HVD232DR uses a standard footprint shared by many CAN transceivers in the TI 65HVD23x family.
