This is a single-driver, single-receiver half-duplex transceiver for RS-422 and RS-485 networks. The 115 kbps data rate is the ceiling. The 50 mV of receiver hysteresis cleans up noise on longer cable runs.

5 V supply only — not a 3.3 V part

If your system is 3.3 V only, this part will not work — you would need a 3.3 V RS-485 transceiver like the SN65HVD1781 or a level shifter. On a mixed-voltage board, the logic inputs are 5 V tolerant, but the VCC must be 5 V for the driver to meet the RS-485 output levels.
