5V CAN transceiver with AEC-Q100 — the under-hood workhorse
The Texas Instruments SN65HVD1050AQDRQ1 is a half-duplex CANbus transceiver built for the 5V supply rail (4.75V~5.25V) that dominates automotive 12V and 24V electrical systems. The 125 mV of receiver hysteresis is the spec that keeps the bus decoding clean on a long, noisy twisted pair — in a motor-drive cabinet or next to an alternator, that noise margin is what prevents false dominant states and bus-off faults. The surface-mount package is hand-solderable with a fine-tip iron or hot-air station, which matters for both prototype bring-up and rework on production boards.
The base product number is 65HVD1050, so any PCN or EOL notice from TI will reference that family. Keep an eye on the TI PCN feed for the 65HVD1050 line, but as of the current lifecycle status there is no change pending.
