Automotive-grade precision reference for ECU signal chains
The REF3440QDBVRQ1: This makes it suitable for under-hood and engine-bay ECU signal chains where the ambient temperature regularly exceeds 105°C.
Noise floor and output drive
For a 16-bit ADC sampling at 1 kSPS, the integrated noise contribution from the reference is roughly 0.4 LSB — low enough that the ADC's own thermal noise dominates the noise budget. The series regulator can source or sink up to 10 mA of output current while maintaining regulation. Quiescent supply current is 95 µA typical, which keeps the self-heating contribution to the drift budget negligible even in a sealed ECU enclosure. The 4.096 V output aligns with common SAR ADC full-scale ranges (0–4.096 V) and simplifies ratiometric measurements.
Housed in a 6-pin SOT-23-6 package (supplier device package SOT-23-6), the footprint is 2.9 mm × 1.6 mm with 0.95 mm pin pitch. The output is fixed — no external resistor divider needed. A 100 nF ceramic bypass capacitor on the input and a 1 µF ceramic on the output are sufficient for stability; the reference is stable with capacitive loads up to 10 µF.
ROHS3 compliant per the manufacturer's statement.
