Audio DAC for I²S digital audio streams
The Texas Instruments PCM1780DBQR is a 24-bit audio DAC that accepts I²S serial audio data and converts it to an analog output. Sampling up to 200k samples per second, it targets consumer and pro-audio equipment where the digital source is an I²S bus — common on media SoCs, DSPs, and HDMI receiver chips. The single 5V supply rail simplifies power routing on mixed-signal boards; no additional negative rail is needed.

Package and supply constraints
Housed in a 16-SSOP package (3.90 mm body width), the PCM1780DBQR fits on compact audio codec boards or multichannel DAC arrays. The 5V single-supply requirement means the analog rail must be clean — a 5V LDO post-switcher is the usual practice. The -25°C to 85°C operating range covers indoor consumer and commercial audio gear but not automotive cabin or outdoor installations.
Sourcing and lifecycle
Texas Instruments lists the PCM1780DBQR as Active and ROHS3 compliant.
