Current-feedback topology, 1.5 GHz bandwidth
The OPA694IDBVT is a Texas Instruments current-feedback operational amplifier delivering a 1.5 GHz -3dB bandwidth and a 1700 V/µs slew rate from a 5.8 mA supply current. The current-feedback topology decouples gain-bandwidth from the closed-loop gain setting, so the full 1.5 GHz bandwidth is available at higher gains than a voltage-feedback amp of similar speed — useful in wideband transimpedance and IF amplifier stages where the noise gain is fixed by the feedback network. Housed in a SOT-23-5 package (SC-74A), it operates over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and draws 5.8 mA quiescent current. The supply span is 7 V minimum to 12.6 V maximum, making it compatible with standard ±5 V or single +8 V to +12 V rails. Output current is rated at 80 mA per channel.
Slew rate and input characteristics for signal-chain design
The 1700 V/µs slew rate sets a large-signal full-power bandwidth of roughly 270 MHz at a 2 Vpp output swing — above that, the output slew-rate limits the undistorted swing. For pulse or video applications, this means the amplifier reproduces fast edges with minimal slew-induced distortion up to that frequency. Input bias current is 5 µA typical, and input offset voltage is 500 µV typical — both figures reflect the current-feedback input stage, which trades higher bias current for the wideband gain-flatness advantage. The 80 mA output current per channel drives 50-Ω back-terminated lines or moderate capacitive loads without an external buffer.
