10 MHz GBW and 9 V/µs slew rate — what drives the bandwidth ceiling
The NE5532PS pairs a 10 MHz gain-bandwidth product with a 9 V/µs slew rate. For a small-signal gain of 10, the closed-loop bandwidth sits near 1 MHz; the slew rate limits the full-power bandwidth to roughly 140 kHz at 20 Vpp output. Below that frequency the op-amp reproduces the waveform without slew-induced distortion.
Running on ±15 V rails is the classic audio and signal-conditioning configuration; the 38 mA output current per channel drives a 400 Ω load to within a few volts of the rails. Quiescent current is 8 mA per amplifier (16 mA total for both channels). The 200 nA input bias current and 500 µV input offset voltage are typical for a general-purpose bipolar-input stage — adequate for DC-coupled circuits where the signal source impedance is under 10 kΩ.
